New dinghy coming to me!
« on: May 10, 2017, 11:25:14 PM »
As most of you know, I had moved with my wife to Oklahoma for her job promotion. Well, of course all of my things went there, including a 11.5 skiff I was working on. I started that project and modified the plans a bit, she would have been a pretty boat.

That project came to a halt when I was struck by lightning, so she had been awaiting her next fitments for a bit of time. Prior to my wife asking for a divorce I was setting up shop to complete the boat.

That boat had to stay in Oklahoma, as well as some of my other things. too costly to fetch them.

My friend is going to give me a SinBad Sailor, a 8 ft Dinghy that has some teak inserts he did. Really a pretty boat. needs some work but not too much. And it has all the stuff I need to sail and store her.

I am a lucky guy, and cant wait to get her to post pictures and progress so I can get her on the water since that will be easier than the compac if I only have a few hours to sail!

That does sound cool, Mac.

I got a WindRider to have a little runabout around the lakes in between having to drive to New Bern (from Raleigh, a 2+ hour drive).

Regarding your CP 19, though, have you considered putting the Mastender system on her? I retrofit one onto a Slipper 17, and it was a great success. Keep boom and main on the stub, raise and lower the mast easily & quickly, very good system.

Sounds like you are getting ready for some fun with the new boat; very cool.

I would call Keith Scott at www.sailboatrichlands.com and see how he does it.

My understanding is that you get the tabernacle to hold the stub to the deck and the hinge from Hutchens, and then do the work yourself. I had Keith do the cutting and installation on my Slipper. Well worth it!

I bet the parts would not set you back much.
