I'm asking for a final roster no later than November 30th and I'll reconfirm on the MWG thread. Let me know when and were yours is. I'll travel to hang out with fellow Compac-o-nauts!!!!!!

Good Grief No Mas- don't get involved with that gangster Bob23. He'll try to charge you a $5000.00 border crossing fee to pass into NJ, and that would be on top of the $3500.00 initiation fee, not to mention the 12% tax on the fees! After the fee schedule is negotiated and you pay up, he is not a bad guy to hang around with! He also has a very fine boat!  If the gathering is not in NJ, the fee still applies.

Hey PeterG, so i hear....we might just have to start a Middle and Southern Bay group and only charge 80% of Bob23's fees. Such a deal! I am not sure how to handle the PBR question. It's not really beer so maybe we could allow it if not marketed as such. :)

I think that we would be the only Chesapeake Bay group.

I definitely can't do the PBR thing.  Yeesh.  Might as well be Milwaukee's Best, A.K.A. the Beast.  Lately all I can seem to drink, beer wise, is Porters or Stouts.  There is a really good brewery right by my house called Ornery Beer Company and their Occoquan Oats is a great one.

Since the meet up north is January 16 (I am thinking that they need to hold it later in the year because Bob23 will be snowed in by then being all the way up in Jersey) we could shoot towards the end of January.  Actually, I should be off the weekend of January 30.  That date might work.  On January 16 there is the RV show at the Dulles Expo and my wife and I are planning on looking at it.

Heave: I have 4wd and PBR!!!! Truth be known, a while back my beer taste buds grew up a bit. I love Guinness and Omegang 3 Philosophers is another favorite. This spring I had the pleasure of tying Ballantine IPA! Yup- you head that right! It's potent and really good. Recently had some nice local beer while in Maine from Boothbay Craft Brewery.
So there!!!!!

LOL....Man, that sounds SO redneck.  PBR and 4x4.  Actually, that even sounds like the title for a country song!

How is January 30 sounding to everyone?

Sorry hijacked the thread. I figured that we need a new place in the right place for this information.

Up early and thought a quick response for this thread is in order. Since a Chesapeake bay hook up for Compac owners has grown out of this thread and now is being coordinated by HeaveToo on the outings and event section, check out that thread for info on our Chesapeake group(well we seem to be forming one) mid-winter gathering. Meanwhile continuing with No Mas new home, she now has a playmate just two or three miles away, same year same birthing center! The parents have already visited each other and each others babies and there is the possibility of both Saga and No Mas actually living on the same creek! How exciting for them, play dates just around the corner.

Saga's dad took me out for lunch after meeting No Mas and on the way to Killmarnock we passed what looked like a homeless CP 16 sitting out on the street corner begging someone to adopt her. If indeed up for adoption they make nice additions to most homes and would more than likely reward her new parents with many enjoyable times on the water, which of course is what they are born to do. Anyway I can help direct you to her but PeterG knows the area better, and hot tips on good places to eat! Might be worth checking her out.

Stay tuned....more coming soon as the mystery of the sunken sloop's missing mast now is the talk of all the boats on Locklies Creek where No Mas lives. Soon may be dived on to sort out what the story really is. :)

Saga is my boat.  Is there another Compac 23 named Saga out there?

Whew....I know it isn't an original name but I was hoping to be one of a kind on the Bay.  I had that fight with flags for a long time.  Each boat has had its own flag.  I started with pirate flags and I graduated to my current flag.  The current flag is a Norse Raven Banner.  I have seen one other boat flying a similar flag but not the traditional one I am flying on Saga.

Nice pics HeaveToo! Can't wait to cruise some with you and see her.

Update on No Mas' home port. The Folks who run Merrior and the oyster company attached to it are hoping to expand their docks and fuel dock and have been in conversations about refloating and removing the sunken sloop whose mast has been above the water there for 9 years. Still no real word on what happened to the mast. It disappeared last week. If they do refloat would love to watch the process! AAA just doesn't tow those kinda wrecks. :)

I  like the flag idea and didn't know that each boat can have a flag of it's own.

I did a lot of research on each flag.  Each flag has a history which makes a good conversational topic.

First boat:  Bad Obsession flew the pirate flag of Christopher Moody.  Much wasn't really know about him but he was the ONLY pirate of his era that flew a Red Flag.  Red means no quarter will be given.  The Skull meant death, the arm with a dagger meant that he wasn't afraid to fight, and the hour glass with the wings on it meant that the person's time to live was flying away.

Second Boat:  Bart Roberts was one of the most successful pirate.  He is more well known and there are lots of exploits about his ventures.  The flag is him toasting death.

Saga, Compac 23/3:  Norse flag.  It is said that Viking commanders, such as Ivar the Boneless, flew it in battle.  It was said that if the Raven't wings were fluttering then the commander would win in battle.
