The date is out for me, Vicki and I will be basking in the Caribbean sunlight about then.  How about  02/11/17?

I personally wish to have at least the first gathering's suspects and hopefully a few more partners in crime attending this year. I certainly am open to finding a date (other than Susan!) that works for everyone.  A single design class series is on my mind to discuss over libations, food and friends. Let the games begin!

Golly who ordered up this weather!!!

OBTW Tim, if you take all of us along, the change in date will be easier! Glad to hear you guys are getting away.  :)

I am definitely watching this.

FYI...I think that we need to select the place based on beer!  LOL.  Bob can all buy us a round of Edmond Fitzgerald!

Hey Heave, check the Willaby's link in my previous post. 24 Taps! Was one of the must haves when i was thinking about a location. Being on the water was another. Can't have a bunch of sailors together without water nearby!

We are pretty flexible on dates and it is still pretty far away. We definitely need to get Bob and Kevin back down, Who knows maybe even with their respective better halves. Peter and Becky i am sure will wish to come. Tim will need to reacclimatize himself after a trip to lower attitudes but I am sure we can help with that! Let's round up some more!

The fellow that sold me our little 16, with our encouragement for his wife, has pulled the trigger on getting a Catalina 30. It was a tall rig, wing keel model. Know you had a 30 once before. Bring your wife and we will work on her as well. Susan is actually the one who seems to have the magic when talking folks into boats!

I wish you could but I think that my wife is a lost cause.

The Catalina 30 is a great boat.  Which model is it. MKi, MKii, or MKiii?

Mine was the MKii.  Great boat but there are a few things that need to be checked on immediately that a surveyor may not know about.  There is a wire harness kit for the starter that needs to be done (if not it could cause a fire).  The other big one on the MKii is the mast step.  Catalina got really smart in the MKii and went from a wooden compression post that was in the MKi to a metal compression post in the MKii.  That was a great improvement BUT Catalina put a block of wood in the bilge for the compression post to sit on.  This bock of wood is made out of oak and it will rot after time.  Water will eventually get to it.  The fix means taking the HUGE mast down, cut out the fiberglass in the area near the block, front of the bilge, and replace the block.  The block can be bought from Catalina.  I miss my old boat badly and I am not sure how much longer I can stay with the 23 because it is so small based on what I am use to.

I am all for another meeting.  One of these days we all have to meet out on the water!

Well bring her anyway! Like i said, Susan is the one who can get reticent spouses on board! She's batting 1000 so far.  :)

As far as getting a larger boat goes, prices are good, boat loans dirt cheap to get, count as second homes, yada yada.
Having a real place to stay that also just happens to sail has been huge for us. I loved No Mas but not for Susan's needs. Her stress is my stress. We just celebrated our 37th wedding anniversary yesterday, because we have learned to listen to the others needs.

Thanx for the info on the Catalina 30. Will share it with the fellow getting one.

I know every square inch of the Catalina 30 after owning it for 8 years.  I would be glad to ask any questions that come up.

We will see if I can convince Jackie into coming.

It sure would be nice to have all the Admirals attend this epic event. Someone's got to keep us out of trouble. We shouldn't have to depend on just Susan...it's not fair!!!

Um.....It's not me, well maybe a little, who needs the keeping out of trouble. Susan is quite capable of taking it to the next level. We do celebrate anniversary week not just day and we just got back form a winery down the road from us....I was good with one bottle, but that wasn't gunna fly with Susan. I'll bet we can get the girls to join in.  :)

Winds looking good for next few..........

Well if this weather keeps up we may have to call it another summer gathering! Can't believe it will be December soon and boat hauling time again. So Bob, we will be in White Grass the first full weekend in December for the Jack Frost party. Hard to believe but it will soon be time to think about XC skiing! How's that 16 coming?!

No 16 yet but out on a fine Sunday afternoon sail today showing off! Koinonia must love this fall wind because she performed beautifully! As always.
Still keeping my eye out for a 16 but now I'm more concentrating on fall and winter prep. Hopefully we'll get snow this winter or I may need to travel to get some cross country in.

Golly it is sure hard to think about winter with this weather but the reality of this is that Interlude will be out of the water by December and we will be in West Virginia the first weekend for a big XC ski bash! Tim suggested 2/11/17 and that can work for us, shall we set this up as the date?

Check out the previous posts for the Willabys location as it seems to meet the prerequisites of on the water, central bay location, reasonable and varied menu, oh and many taps!

Let's get the admirals on board this year so Susan and Becky have some camaraderie other than us dudes!  (Not that Susan and Becky can't hold their own with such!) We are looking forward to Tim's li,err sailing stories, Kevin and Lesa's new boat pics, Pedro and Becky's tales of the lone Ranger (tug), Heave's sagas of Saga, and Bob's presentation of the revised dues (beer) schedule involved with all of this boat shifting! Let's get some new faces as well that had indicated an interest in the summer gathering. You out there Dave, Larry, others?

Heading back to the boat after this election thing is done, maybe to prepare it for leaving the country!

2/11/17 is good. Although I'm scheduled to chair a global peace summit with our new president and Putin that day, I'll just tell them something more important came up.
