I thank you for that.  I'm getting excited, the weather was in the mid 50's and sunny here today.  I rolloed the boat out of the garage for the  first time in two weeks and worked in the sunshime.  A real good friend came over and helped me put the first coat of Kilz on the inside of the cabin.  That was a job painting back under the cockpit seats, but it looks real good.  Am going to put the 2d coat on tomorrow, then I'll decide what color I want for the inside.  Tenatively plan to do the first spring splash two weeks from today.  Will keep you posted.

I've thrown out a hook the last two years I have sailed Carlyle at the Hazlett State Park launch.  There are a few dead trees still in the water where it is easy to wrap your bow line around and you won't need to use an anchor.  It is quiet at night with no current although it may be a little buggy.  It's a good place to anchor and close to the ramp.

    looking for some thoughts on the rendezvous bbq to be held at mike and brenda greenes cabin. i was thinking we could provide a couple of lawn games (washers, or "cornhole" (a beanbag game). maybe a little cards later. in the food department would it be better to buy something readimade or bbq. some brats. if its bbq then i can provide a grill (there is only one near the cabin. there is ample room just north of the greenes cabin for the games, i can also bring a few lawn chairs. i figure that if we have the bbq, i can buy the food (and we can figure everyone's end later). i can also bring some coolers for beer soda and whatnot. lots of places close by to make a beer run. any advice greatly appreciated. i have never set up an event before so ill take all the help i can get.

I'm going to go out on a limb here and say that between Linda, Sarah, Becky and I, we will coordinate the bar-b-que.  We have been talking on Facebook and we can make the arrangements through that forum. Hopefully this will lighten kickinbug's and salty19's load.  If there is anything else we can help with, just let us know.

Mike and I are open to hosting the bar-b-que any night.   In fact, anytime anyone wants to come over, hang out, have a campfire, nightcap,  use the bathroom/shower (for those of you on the hook), our place is available every day.

   hey com-pac people, well i finally got to sail today. the water is still pretty cold but it was a good breeze (about 12 mph) and near 70 degrees for the biggest part of the afternoon. the lake was pretty low and i was told that they have been letting a lot of water through the dam so the lake shouldnt flood like it did last spring. i stopped in at the winery on 127 (where we were planning on having the meet and greet on friday) and it is real nice. anyway i tenatively booked a room for i would guess about 20 people. i would like some input about when people can expect to be here on friday so i can give them a time frame. they have a large parking lot which could probably accomodate everyones trailer. i would assume that most people would want to check in at their motels and freshin up first. i dont know if mike (salty 19) has a headcount yet so i was just guessing about the number. this thing might just get done. hope everyone has a good of a first day like i did today. like a lot of people advised me-----the new mainsail (rolly tasker) was worth the money. i smell a race trophy.    fairwinds

Good for you for sailing last week!!!    I bet that was a good time!!

As for the winery meet and greet,  I believe several of us were planning to be there Thursday night and sailing on Friday.  At least that's what my impression is but you may want to clarify when people are coming into town.

My schedule is arrive Thursday night around 5-6, get the boat in the water, grab something to eat and probably crash for the night. Fri-Sun sailing and other activities.  Pull boat Sunday evening, monday drive home.

The Greene's plan on arriving on Friday the 9th.  If work permits we may sneak down on Thursday night.  We rented the cabin for 7 nights, so we will be around for the CLR festivities and then enjoy the lake on our own for a few days.  It may take us the whole week to finish that stupid race course.
Hopefully some one will keep a light on.  Is there going to be a time limit?

The lakes in Madison are finally starting to melt around the edges so there is hope that spring is actually here.

Mike and all,
My tentative plans are to come up on Friday morning and stay tiill Monday about noon.  Probably leave here around 3:30 or 4:00 Friday morning and it's about a 4 1/2 hr drive up there.  I don't know if you all rfead the other post or not, but got out Saturday for a couple of hours with the Admiral for the first time.  She tolerated it well until the wind died and the electric motor burnt up.  And she dosn't understand tacking at all.  Hoisted the Jenny for the first time and that was hoot.  Got up to 5.5 mph twice.  Found I have to replace the sheets on the Jenny.  It's the wrong kind of line.  Well there's a couple of good docklines for the bass boat.  Don't shoot and put those flame throwers away!!!!!!

Well, mates:
   This is a long haul for me and there's some darn nice sailing around here in July but presently I'm leaning toward being there, about 68% sure. Reason? After communing with you all here at cyber-ville I've come to the conclusion it would be a blast to meet in person, have some drinks, eat some food, tell some lies, and sail our butts off.
   I hope I can make it and, to be fair, I'm kinda indecisive. I'll probably wait until 2 weeks before to decide. I hope I'm still welcome.

I for one hope you make it.  Would be great to meet you and see your 23.....tiller, rudder, etc.
There was one other 23 or 25 at Carlyle lake in 2008 rendezvous but was in a slip in Lockport?  No one around to ask about it.
Steve,    maybe you can track that owner down and invite him or her? I still have pics of the boat if that will help.

Brenda and I certainly hope you decide to attend.  We'll be the first in line to buy you a drink.  (or two, three, fo.......)
There will be plenty of boats for you to crew and captain while you are there.  We will be looking for anyone and everyone to jump aboard and teach us some tricks.  We love free (well there is a beverage allowance) lessons.   

Since Bob's Beautiful Rudders, Inc. is now open for business I may have to get a quote for my 19.
