Longitude and Latitude Of The Seas. How'd It Happen?
« on: November 17, 2016, 08:07:38 AM »
Author Chester G. Hearn's engaging account of one man's methodical effort to safely guide all mariners across the World's Seven Seas.

This young Nation and Congress could ill afford the burden of a dedicated ship and crew.
But there was another way to acquire and disseminate the millions of bits of information.

It was Maury's sole effort that opened up the World's trade to a very young America. An America that became responsible, even today, for more than 80% of all the World's wealth generated during the last two hundred and fifty + years.

And who lives today in Matthew Fontaine Maury's former home, library, laboratory and observatory?
Readers will be be amazed.
